Terms of Use

On this page
1. The short version
This is a summary, not the agreement. Sections 2–18 are the actual terms.
- PagePax gives you a web address and a page. You own what you put on it.
- We are not a shop and we are not a marketplace. If you sell something through your page, that sale is between you and your buyer. We are not part of it.
- We never hold your money. Payments run through Paystack and settle to your own bank account.
- If you want to collect payments, you must verify your identity. That is a requirement we cannot waive.
- Break the rules on what you can sell or publish, and we will suspend your page.
- If you stop paying, we don’t delete anything — your page drops back to the free version and your data stays intact.
2. Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account, publishing a page, or using PagePax in any way, you agree to these terms. If you are using PagePax for a business, you confirm you are authorised to bind that business.
You must be 18 or over.
3. What PagePax is (and is not)
PagePax is: a service that gives you a subdomain, hosts a page you control, and — on a paid plan — lets you list what you sell and collect payment for it.
PagePax is not:
- a marketplace — we do not sell anything, hold stock, or set your prices;
- a payment company — we are not licensed to hold or transmit funds, and we do not;
- a party to any sale between you and your customer;
- a delivery or logistics company;
- a guarantor of any merchant, product, or transaction on the platform.
4. Your account
- You need a working phone number, verified by one-time password.
- One person or business per account. [CONFIRM whether multiple pages per account are permitted.]
- You are responsible for everything that happens on your account. Keep access to your phone number secure and tell us immediately if you think someone else has got in.
- You must give accurate information. Impersonating another person or business is grounds for immediate suspension.
5. Your subdomain
- When you register, we give you a licence to use a subdomain (for example
yourname.mystore.ng). The root domain itself belongs to us — you are not buying or owning a domain name. - Your subdomain is meant to be permanent. We do not move people between root domains, because that would break your links, QR codes, and printed materials.
- We can withdraw a subdomain if: you break these terms; the page is used for fraud or prohibited content; a legitimate trademark holder establishes a claim to the name; or we are legally required to.
- You cannot sell, rent, or transfer your subdomain to someone else without our written agreement.
- New pages are not search-indexable at first. Your page goes live at its real address immediately, but stays noindex until it passes phone verification and an automated content check. This protects everyone on the platform from scam pages accumulating search reputation.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you upload — your photos, text, logo, product listings.
You give us a limited licence to host, store, resize, display, and deliver that content, purely so we can show your page to the people who visit it. That licence ends when you delete the content or close your account.
You confirm that: you have the right to use everything you upload; it does not infringe anyone else’s copyright or trademark; and it is accurate about what you are selling.
7. AI-generated content
PagePax uses AI to draft parts of your page from the answers you give during onboarding.
- The AI produces a draft. You review and edit it before publishing.
- You are responsible for what you publish, including anything the AI drafted that you chose to keep. If the AI writes something inaccurate about your business and you publish it, that is your content.
- AI drafting does not verify anything. Being on PagePax is not a claim that your descriptions are true — only our Verified badge says anything about identity, and only about identity.
8. Plans, trial, and demotion
- Free — a presence page, at no cost, for as long as you want it.
- Trial — verifying your identity starts a 30-day full-feature trial with everything the Pro plan includes.
- Pro — a paid subscription, billed monthly, quarterly, or annually.
- Demotion — if your trial ends without payment, or a payment fails and the grace period passes, your account is demoted, not closed.
What demotion means, precisely:
- Your page stays live at the same address.
- Your store becomes read-only; checkout is replaced with a “contact the seller” option.
- Payment collection is switched off.
- Analytics are hidden.
- Nothing is deleted. Products, orders, images, and settings are all retained. Subscribe again and everything comes back as it was.
Prices are subject to change. We will give you notice before any price change affects your subscription. [CONFIRM notice period — 30 days is typical.]
Refunds: [CONFIRM policy.] A clear position is needed — a common approach is no refunds on part-used periods, with discretion for service failures.
9. Payments and money
This section matters, so it is written plainly.
- Payments are processed by Paystack, a licensed payment processor. Money from your sales never passes through PagePax.
- Before you can collect payments, we create a Paystack subaccount linked to your own bank account. Your customer’s money goes to Paystack, and Paystack settles your share directly to you.
- We take no fee from your sales. Paystack’s own processing charge still applies.
- Settlement timing is set by Paystack, not us — typically the next working day. Delays at Paystack or at your bank are outside our control.
- You are responsible for your own taxes. We do not withhold, calculate, or remit tax on your sales.
- Chargebacks, refunds, and disputes with your customers are yours to resolve. We are not a party to the transaction and cannot reverse or release funds.
10. Identity verification
To collect payments you must complete BVN verification. Your BVN is checked by a licensed verification provider and must match the name on the bank account you want money paid into.
- This is a standard requirement for collecting payments in Nigeria. We cannot switch payments on without it.
- If the names don’t match, your case goes to manual review. We may ask for more documents.
- Passing verification earns you the Verified badge. The badge means we checked that you are a real, identifiable person — it is not an endorsement of your products, your prices, your service, or your honesty as a trader. Buyers should read it that way and no further.
- We can withdraw the badge if verification is later found to be false or fraudulent.
11. What you may not do
You may not use PagePax to publish, sell, or promote:
- anything illegal in Nigeria;
- fraud, scams, fake investment or “double your money” schemes;
- counterfeit goods, or anything infringing someone else’s trademark or copyright;
- stolen goods;
- weapons, ammunition, explosives;
- illegal drugs, prescription medicines sold without authority, or unapproved health products making medical claims;
- sexual services, or sexual content involving anyone under 18 — ever, under any circumstance;
- human trafficking or exploitative labour in any form;
- gambling or lotteries without the required licence;
- financial services you are not licensed to provide;
- hate speech, harassment, threats, or content inciting violence;
- impersonation of another person, business, bank, or government body;
- malware, phishing, or anything designed to deceive visitors.
You also may not: scrape the platform at scale; try to break, overload, or get around our security; resell PagePax as your own service; or create accounts to get around a suspension.
[CONFIRM] Whether this list should be split into a separate Acceptable Use Policy. Recommended — it lets you update the prohibited list without reissuing the whole terms, and it is what comparable platforms do.
This list is also published on its own page: Acceptable Use Policy.
12. Moderation, suspension, and appeals
- Every page carries a report button. Reports can trigger automatic suspension within minutes while a human reviews.
- We also scan new and edited pages automatically for prohibited content.
- Automatic suspension is not deletion. A suspended page is hidden, not destroyed, and everything is restored if the report was wrong.
- You can appeal. Contact us and a person will review it. [CONFIRM appeal turnaround commitment.]
- For serious or repeated breaches — fraud especially — we may close an account permanently and report it to the relevant authorities.
13. If you are a buyer
If you bought something from a page hosted on PagePax:
- Your contract is with that merchant, not with us. We are the platform, not the seller.
- Questions about your order, delivery, returns, or refunds go to the merchant directly.
- Your payment was handled by Paystack and settled to the merchant.
- If you think you have been defrauded, report the page. Use the report button, and contact your bank and the police. We will suspend the page, preserve records, and cooperate with any lawful investigation.
- The Verified badge means we checked the seller’s identity. It does not mean we vouch for their goods or guarantee your purchase.
14. Availability
We aim to keep PagePax running continuously, but we don’t promise uninterrupted service. We may take the platform down for maintenance, and third parties we depend on — Paystack, Cloudflare, Meta, our hosting — can fail in ways we don’t control.
[CONFIRM] Whether any uptime commitment is offered to Pro subscribers. Recommendation: none at v1.
15. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- PagePax is provided “as is”. We don’t warrant that it will be error-free or fit any particular purpose of yours.
- We are not liable for lost profits, lost sales, lost data, business interruption, or indirect or consequential loss.
- We are not liable for disputes between merchants and their customers, the quality or legality of anything sold on the platform, or the acts of any merchant.
- Where we are found liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. [CONFIRM cap — and note some consumer protections cannot be excluded by contract.]
Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be excluded.
16. Indemnity
You agree to cover us against claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from what you publish or sell on PagePax, your breach of these terms, or your breach of anyone else’s rights.
17. Ending it
- You can leave at any time — close your account from your dashboard. Your subdomain is released and becomes available to others. [CONFIRM whether a hold period applies before a released subdomain can be re-registered — recommended, to stop opportunistic squatting on a known business name.]
- We can suspend or close your account for a breach of these terms, for fraud, or where we are legally required to.
- Sections that should survive termination — content licences already granted, liability, indemnity, governing law — do survive.
18. Law and disputes
[CONFIRM — genuinely open, and it needs a decision.] The operating entity is Nigerian, and effectively all users are in Nigeria.
- Choosing Nigerian law and Nigerian courts reflects both where the entity is and where users and regulators actually are, and is the most defensible position against a Nigerian consumer-protection challenge.
Counsel must settle this, along with whether disputes go to arbitration and where.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified before they take effect. Continuing to use PagePax after that means you accept the new version.
20. Contact
[CONFIRM — registered name and address of PagePax Limited Partnership, support email, legal notices address.]
